Robert
Stephens Max
Carrados never got a major film but he has appeared on TV and on Radio. He was
portrayed by Sir Robert Stephens in 1971 in one episode of The Rivals of Sherlock
Holmes, "The Missing Witness Sensation".
The
Very Cool Simon Callow
More
recently Simon Callow has played Max on BBC4's Thriller Playhouse. Oddly
enough, a blind detective works well on Radio since the listener doesn't have
any advantage over the detective. We are all essentially blind. If you'd like
to listen to the first 4 adventures of Carrados, Librivox
offers them in mp3.
Later detectives would borrow the idea of a blind detective such as by Bayard
Kendrick's Duncan Maclain and on TV Longstreet (1971-1972) starring James
Francisus.
