THE FLY (1952)
SOURCE: "The Fly" by Arthur Porges (Fantasy & Science Fiction, September 1952)
DESCRIPTION: "Then the man saw a startling, an incredible thing. There was a metallic flash as a jointed, shining rod stabbed from the fly's head like some fantastic rapier. It licked out with lightning precision, pierced the spider's plump abdomen, and remained extended, forming a terrible link between them..." ("The Fly" by Arthur Porges)
NOTES: The man observing the fly sees it drain a spider using a proboscis then catches it in his hands. The stink he gets after this proves to be radioactive. The fly in all likelihood is a miniature spaceship.
HISTORY: Not to be confused with George Langelaan's "The Fly" which appeared five years later in Playboy and was filmed with Vincent Price and later with Jeff Goldblum.
