MADAME MAXIME'S ABRAXAN HORSES (2000)

SOURCE: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling (2000).
DESCRIPTION: "...they saw a gigantic, powder-blue, horse-drawn carriage, the size of a large house, soaring towards them, pulled through the air by a dozen winged horses, all palominos, and each the size of an elephant...the golden horses tossed their enormous heads and rolled, large, fiery red eyes." (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling)
NOTES: The flying horses that pull the coach for Beauxbatons are winged palominos, gold in color and as large as elephants. Their eyes are fiery and they drink only single-malt whiskey. They are rough animals to handle and only Hagrid would find the task simple. In The Order of the Phoenix Hagrid mentions them as "Abraxan Horses".
HISTORY: Not exactly pegasus -- or are they?
