HOUSE AND SHERLOCK

By G. W. Thomas & Jack Mackenzie

David Shore, creator of the television show HOUSE, has admitted that Gregory House's character is based on Sherlock Holmes. Internal evidence suggests that more than just House's character is based on Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective. Consider:

1)      House--Holmes (Homes)

2)      House's apartment number is 221 (I wonder if it's Apartment B?)

3)      House and Wilson shared the apartment for a while just as Holmes and Watson lived together (No Mrs. Hudson though.) Wilson – Watson. Not much of change.

4)      Wilson has been married more than once. Watson was also a sucker for the ladies.

5)      The character of Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) is much the same as Inspector Lestrade, not as smart as Holmes but on the same side more or less.

6)      House's cane is an anarchism much like a Victorian walking stick.

7)      Shore has said that House's Vicodin addiction is Sherlock's cocaine syringe.

8)      Cameron, Foreman and Chase are the Baker Street Irregulars. (Kinda.)

9)   The pilot episode's first patient is Rebecca Adler (Irene Adler).

10)   House plays the guitar much as Holmes does his violin.
