SOURCES:

Time Machine by H. G. Wells
DESCRIPTION: “...A pair of eyes, luminous by reflection against the daylight without, was watching me out of the darkness...I put out my hand and touched something soft. At once the eyes darted sideways, and something white ran past me. I turned with my heart in my mouth, and saw a queer little ape-like figure, its head held down in a peculiar manner, running across the sunlit space...”(The Time Machine by H. G. Wells)
NOTES: The Morlocks are one half of the human race that has evolved into a subterrainean cannibal. the other half, The Eloi, are little more than human sheep.
HISTORY: The Morlocks are
one of the great monsters of H. G. Wells. The author never really comes
out and describes them fully, only hints at what they look like. They aren't
particularly strong compared to the time traveller but en masse they are
more than a match. In the 1960 Geroge Pal film, the Morlocks look very
Lovecraftian (like Martense ghouls). In the remake with Guy Pierce they
have become almost apes from Planet of the Apes. Only the
Morlock King played by Jeremy Irons is of interest in that film.
