Dr. Raymond is a mad scientist/ghostbreaker. His experiments with the brain push the exploration of wehat he calls "seeing the Great God Pan" (which inveritably drives you insane). His disregard for human life is unpalatable. His colleague Clarke, a quiet investigator is more humane.
