THE RED OPENER OF THE WAY (2006)

SOURCE: "The Man Who Had a Death Wish" by J. F. Gonzalez & G. W. Thomas (Cthulhu Sex Magazine, 2006)

DESCRIPTION:"Residing over the red ruin was the stranger, his naked scarred body covered in a sheet of blood and gore. In one hand he bore a long steak knife. In the other hand--there was no other hand but a tentacle of dark, scaly flesh. Long hooks and barbs protruded from the strangeorgan, as did several mouth-like orifices that sucked and fed on the mess upon the bed..." ("The Man Who Had a Death Wish" by J. F. Gonzalez & G. W. Thomas)

NOTES: The scared little stranger who asks Pete Jenkins, the ruthless cowboy, to kill him appears like a small, frail man. He is trying very hard to keep inside him the Red Opener of the Way, a Mythos monstrosity. When Pete pushes too hard, the Opener comes out at last, feeding on anyone it can.

HISTORY: J. F. Gonzalez and I wrote this collaboration back in 1999. It appeared at Horrorfind in 2002 but finally saw print in 2006. I have heard from many writers this story inspired them to try a weird Western of their own.
