RED SONJA (1985)

Details of Plot and Cast

Trailer

Favorite Scene: The scene in the temple of Talisman. Mostly dull but I liked the bit when the priestesses are placed inside th terrible hole. Though Idid think one of them should have said, like Mustapha (Will Ferrel) in Austin Powers, "Oh my legs, they seem to be broken."

Least Favorite Scene: The opening scene of the film, which hurries us through the entire center of Sonja's character, making us care about her about as much as a bat-fart.

Things I Still Like:

I enjoyed Paul L. Smith and Ernie Reyes Jr.'s roles. They certainly added some needed character to the bland Calidor and Sonja. I liked Ronald Lacey as Ikol. Most villain toadies are about as interesting as the guy who played Queen Gedren's wizard, entirely forgettable. But Lacey almost seemed to have a brain even if the queen never listened to him. And he never resorted to just playing the evil Nazi character from Raiders.

Things I Still Hate (Or Newly Hate):

The beginning of the film is really slow. Once Sonja meets Falcon and Prince Tarn, then it gets better. The end of the film is dull too, with the castle slowly blowing up bit by bit. I guess I only liked the middle part. No monsters. "The Machine" doesn't count.
