THE TEKUL (2002)

SOURCE: "The Court of Two Lions" by G. W. Thomas (The Book of the Black Sun, 2002)

DESCRIPTION:"Dry chitonous shells dragged against the concrete, slimy limbs coiled in the darkness...Theirs sounds were ghastly, their laughter terrifying, hyena-like barks and yips...I could make out three different sets of iridescent eyes, clusters of twelv, each independent of the others, writhing like Medusa's snaky locks--" ("The Court of Two Lions" by G. W. Thomas)

NOTES: The Tekul are an ancient race known to the local Indian tribes in the Arkham area. The Tekul will select a victim then draw them irresistably to a desolate place to feed on them. They can make themselves appear human-like but are actually quite monstrous.

HISTORY: This story was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's "The Man of the Crowd" which incidentially influenced A. Conan Doyle's Moriarty character. Originally set in New Orleans it was moved to Arkham in the final version.
