THE THIRTEENTH WARRIOR (1999)
Favorite Scene: I love the scene where Fahdlan meets the Vikings and gets drafted for the expedition.
Least Favorite Scene:
Things I Still Like: Just about everything. I love the Beowulfisms, the horror stuff, and how the film was expanded from the book. Usually when they monkey with the original it sucks (Look at Conan.) But Crichton was involved and made sure the script wasn't cheese. The cast of the film was amazing. Omar Sharif is fun, as are Kulich and all the Vikings. Banderas does a good job of being different from the Vikings but not snobbish. The film even manages a bt of a message about life and death. Not too many S&S films do that. It is the contrast of their cultures that makes the whole thing work. Things I Still Hate (Or Newly Hate): Not much. Some of the CGI at the beginning is looking dated. I would have loved for some CGI monsters but the human version was pretty good.
