NOTES: The Watcher is an ancient creature that dwells in the lake outside the secret door to Moria. It is allied to Sauron. It killed Oin, Gimli's uncle and one of Bilbo's travelling companions.

HISTORY: Peter Jackson makes the watcher much more exciting in the film than it is in the book. The Ralph Bakshi animated film is closer to the actual version. Still, Jackson's version feels right and is fun to watch.
