The Tolkien influence can be seen in the elfin or hobbit-like nature of the heroes. The strip was laterthe basis for a John Buscema color magazine (Marvel Super Special). They also appeared in Epic magazine in the 1980s. (I missed the Plogg-Nino art.) This was one of my favorite comics as a teenager.
