TLAPALLAN WHITE DOGS (1918)

SOURCE: The Citadel of Fear by Francis Stevens (Argosy, 1918)
DESCRIPTION: "Out of the curtaining rain a horde of ghost-white forms hurtled upon him. They were beasts; great snarling, white brutes, with slavering jaws and wolflike fangs."
NOTES: The Tlapallans created these "guardians of the hills" by placing humans in the sacred transmuting swamp earth and transforming them into dogs. These dogs guard the city of Tlapalllan.
HISTORY: Francis Stevens created several different creatures from the same source in this novel.
