Erikson explains in the introduction that this book started when German sales of Disney books were dropping and editors had an image of Huey, Dewey and Louie riding on dragons as a good idea to improve the story. Unlike Wizards of Mickey this story did not come out of Topolino, the Italian Disney comic.
